NDIS CAPACITY BUILDING

🌱 What NDIS Capacity Building Is For

NDIS Capacity Building is a major part of many NDIS plans. Its purpose is to help participants build skills, independence, confidence, and long‑term capability, rather than covering day‑to‑day support needs.

Where Core Supports help with daily activities, Capacity Building supports your growth, helping you work toward personal goals across several areas of life.

⭐ What Capacity Building Funding Aims To Do

Across multiple authoritative sources, Capacity Building funding is designed to:

✔ Build long‑term independence

It funds activities and therapies that help you rely less on support over time and gain more control over your life.

✔ Help you achieve your personal goals

Whether your goals involve study, health, employment, relationships, confidence, or skill development, this budget is tied directly to those desired outcomes.

✔ Improve social, community, and economic participation

Supports can help you learn how to travel independently, participate in community activities, or gain skills for work or volunteering.

✔ Provide targeted and structured development

Funding is divided into specific categories based on the outcome you want to improve, such as learning, daily living, health, employment, or relationships.

✔ Offer therapies and training

This includes occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, behaviour support, or training that builds capacity in daily life.

📦 What’s Included?

Capacity Building supports are grouped into nine main categories (wording may vary slightly across sources):

  1. Support Coordination

  2. Improved Living Arrangements

  3. Increased Social & Community Participation

  4. Finding & Keeping a Job

  5. Improved Relationships

  6. Improved Health & Wellbeing

  7. Improved Learning

  8. Improved Life Choices (Plan Management)

  9. Improved Daily Living

🧭 Examples of What You Can Use It For

  • Mobility and travel training (using public transport, road safety)

  • Employment‑related supports (resume building, interview prep)

  • Social skills training and community participation

NDIS Capacity Building is for anything that helps you grow your abilities, reduce the support you need over time, and reach the goals in your NDIS plan.

It’s not for everyday help — it’s an investment in your future independence.
